Platform Terminology and Interface Concepts
This reference page explains the key terms and interface concepts used throughout the Meefwilow service. It is intended to help new users orient themselves before or during their first interactions with the platform.
Terminology Used in the Meefwilow Interface
The following terms appear throughout the platform. Understanding them will help you navigate the interface and interpret what you see during a review session.
- Category
- A named group within the classification framework. Every item of information is assigned to at least one category. Categories determine where an item appears in the classification view.
- Classification View
- The main interface area where categories and their assigned items are displayed. Users navigate from broad categories to specific items from within this view.
- Review Panel
- The focused interface panel that opens when a user selects a specific item. It shows the item's full content, its category assignments, and any identified relationships with other items.
- Relationship
- A connection identified by the service between two or more items, based on their shared characteristics, common subject matter, or other relevant similarity. Relationships are displayed in the review panel alongside the primary item.
- Session
- A continuous period of use during which the platform tracks which categories and items you have visited. Session data helps you resume a review without retracing your steps.
- Contextual Search
- A search function that returns results within the most relevant categories based on your current position in the classification view, rather than searching all available content indiscriminately.
- Access Level
- The set of platform functions available to a user based on their confirmed access arrangement. Some functions are restricted by access level. Contact the support team for information about your current configuration.
- Support Channel
- The interface feature that allows users to contact the Meefwilow support team from within the platform. It is also accessible through the Connect page on this website.
How the Interface Is Organised
The Meefwilow interface follows a consistent set of navigation conventions designed to reduce uncertainty as users move between different areas of the platform. These conventions are summarised below.
Top-Level Navigation
The header bar, present on every interface screen, provides direct access to the main areas of the platform. The currently active area is always indicated in the navigation.
Category Hierarchy
Within the classification view, categories are arranged in a hierarchy from broad to specific. Moving down the hierarchy narrows the items displayed. Moving up returns the user to a broader view without losing the context of where they came from.
Item Selection
Selecting an item from the classification view opens its review panel. The classification view remains accessible in the background, allowing the user to return to it without needing to navigate from the top level.
Breadcrumb Trail
A breadcrumb trail at the top of the classification view shows the user's current path through the category hierarchy. Each step in the trail is a navigable link, making it straightforward to return to any earlier level.
Session Progress Indicator
A session progress indicator shows which categories and items have been reviewed during the current session. This helps users working through a large classification structure keep track of their progress without needing to maintain external notes.
Why Consistent Navigation Matters
An information-organisation system is only useful if users can move through it without becoming disoriented. Meefwilow's navigation conventions are designed to maintain a clear spatial relationship between where the user is, where they have been, and where they can go next.
When Navigation Differs
Some access configurations may present a simplified navigation structure if the full classification hierarchy is not relevant to the user's access level. If the interface you encounter differs from the description on this page, contact the support team for clarification.
What to Expect When You Begin
The first time you access the Meefwilow interface, you may find the classification view contains fewer items than you expected. This is normal and reflects your current access configuration rather than a technical problem.
As your access arrangement is confirmed and any relevant content is added to your area of the classification structure, the volume of accessible items will increase. The interface itself does not change as your access level grows — only the items and categories visible within it.
If the interface appears to be missing content you expected to see, the most likely explanations are:
- The relevant content has not yet been added to your classification view.
- Your current access level does not include the category containing the content you are looking for.
- The item exists but has been assigned to a category you have not yet navigated to.
- The contextual search returned results only within the currently active category, not across the full structure.
In all cases, contacting the support team is the most direct way to resolve any uncertainty about what is available to you and why.
